At Darling Med Spa, lip enhancement with fillers is one of the most requested procedures. Full, plumps lips add appeal to clients of all ages, and social media has boosted demand for lip augmentation. Whether you want subtle or dramatic results, our expert injector can shape and augment your lips to your desired aesthetic appearance, whether it's natural or glamorous lips you're after.

Is Lip Filler treatment right for me?

Not everyone is born with naturally beautiful lips. Even those who are born with full lips, tend to notice thinning of the lips over the years, causing wrinkles. Patients who desire to improve the appearance of their lips can benefit from lip fillers in the hands of trained injectors.

What are some benefits of lip filler?

  • Enhance lip size: Patients who have naturally thin lips come to Darling Med Spa for lip augmentation.

  • Improve proportions: Many patients' upper lips are substantially smaller than their lower lips. The "golden ratio" for lips is 1:1.618, which means the upper should be smaller than the lower, but this is not always the case.

  • Create a defined lip border: As we age, our lips lose definition and become wrinkled. Dermal fillers can help the lip border look more beautiful and younger.

  • Enhance lip projection: When analyzing the lips, your injector may analyze from profile view. This helps establish if lip injections could improve the projection of the upper or lower lips.

  • Enhance "Cupid's Bow" by: One of the most requested areas for lip fillers is a well-defined cupid's bow—the two curves on the upper lip

  • Form the lips: As we age, our lips go through some changes, one of which is the collapse of the lip corners, which results in a less desirable shape. With dermal filler, this can be improved. Additionally, in come clients the body of the lips where the top and bottom lips meet, can be uneven. Dermal fillers can be used to smooth the inner borders where the top and bottom lips meet.

  • Lip fillers are also used by our injector to produce a more defined groove under the nose, known as the philtrum, as well as to improve the skin quality of the lips, making it look more youthful.

How Does Lip Enhancement Work?

The face will be cleaned with alcohol. Prior to treatment, a numbing cream is applied 20 minutes before the treatment. A very fine needle or micro-cannula will be used by your injector. After that, apply pressure with gauze. If a cannula is used, a small amount of local anesthetic is injected into the skin, and then a fine needle is used to produce a small entry point in the skin where the cannula is placed.

How Much Filler Does Lip Augmentation Require?

Our cosmetic injector will examine your face to determine the appropriate dose of lip injections to achieve your desired results. The dose used will also depend on your budget as well as your beauty goals. A small dose can be used if someone wants to keep the treatment cost low and want only mild improvement. We usually start with 1cc of filler at a time, and follow up in a month if more is needed.

Is There Any Recovery Time After Lip Fillers?

After lip filler injections, expect some redness and swelling, with the top lip swelling significantly more than the lower lip. Because the swelling lasts for around 48 hours, patients often avoid social gatherings during that time. After your treatment, you will be given the following instructions:

  • Avoid makeup for 4 hours

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for the rest of the day

  • Apply ice for 10 min on and off every few hours to reduce swelling (optional)

Patients can always call or message if they have any concerns or questions.
